Integrate Google Analytics 4 with your Call Tracking account
The integration of your Google Analytics 4 account with your Call Tracking account allows you to send call data in the form of events directly to Google Analytics for each call received on one of your tracking numbers.
In this article :
- Setting up Google Analytics 4 integration
- Configuring Events and Conversions
- Activating the Google Analytics 4 integration in your Call Tracking account
Before enabling the Google Analytics 4 integration in your Call Tracking account, it is recommended that you perform a configuration directly in your Google Analytics 4 account and property.
Setting up Google Analytics 4 integration
In the Administration tab, choose the property you want to integrate with your Call Tracking account.
Under the property, select Data Feed.
Create or select an existing data feed corresponding to your website.
In the web feed details, you will find the Measure ID that will be needed to perform the integration.
We will also need an API Secret Code:
- In the feed details, in the other settings, click on “Measurement Protocol API Secret Codes.”
- Give it a name.
- A secret code value will then be generated.
Configuring events and conversions in Google Analytics 4
It is recommended that you perform the event configuration before integration into your Call Tracking account
Create an event
In Google Analytics 4, in the Configure and Events tab, create an event:
- Give it a name (Example: Dexem_call)
- Give it a match condition.
- event_name is equal to dexem_call
It is possible to set several parameters in additional conditions
Possible properties to configure:
- duration: Allows configuration on communication time criteria
- status: Allows configuration based on the criteria of off-hook or missed call.
- tracking_number: Allows configuration based on tracking number name criteria.
- page_referrer: Allows configuration on the criteria of the URLs of the reference pages.
- page_location: It allows you to configure the criteria of the URLs of the landing pages.
Your event is now created!
Last step!
You must match the event that you have just created to a conversion that you will be able to use later.
In Google Analytics 4, in the Configure and Events tab, choose the event that you want to show as a conversion and tick the box “Mark as conversion”.
Warning: If there is data in your Google Analytics 4 event, and you mark it as a conversion, the conversion will not include the event data. The action is not retroactive on event data already collected.
If the goal is not yet visible (there may be a 24 hour delay) and you do not want to lose any data, it is possible to anticipate the creation of the conversion.
You need to match the event you want to mark as an event, which you have just created, to a conversion that you will be able to exploit later.
In Google Analytics 4, in the Configure and Conversion tab, create a new conversion event:
- Give it exactly the same name as the previously created event
Your property is now ready to be integrated into your Call Tracking account
Activate the Google Analytics 4 integration in your Call Tracking account
Pre-requisite: to have completed the steps described in the following articles:
– Setting up the Google Analytics 4 account
– Configure events and conversions in Google Analytics 4
In the Integration tab, click on the Google Analytics 4 box.
Click Add.
Add a name to your property.
Then enter your tracking ID (to find it, refer to the section on Setting up the Google Analytics 4 account) which will link to your Call Tracking account. This ID is the one that will be used by default in your account.
Add your measurement protocol API secret code.
To find it, refer to the section on Setting up your Google Analytics 4 account.
You can also set a minimum call duration for sending data to Google Analytics 4.
For example, if you set this parameter to 30 seconds, the call data will only be sent to Google Analytics 4 if the call lasts at least 30 seconds.
Please make sure that you have set this correctly!
If an error is present, Google Analytics will not send us an error code.
Choose to which tracking numbers the Google Analytics 4 integration will be associated.
Click on Complete the configuration.
It is possible to integrate Dexem’s Call Tracking with several Google Analytics 4 properties. This feature is available from PRO accounts. If you want this feature, please contact our sales team for more information.
Modify the Google Analytics 4 integration for a tracking number

To do this, click on the Edit icon for the desired number in the list
Then go to the Integrations section. And activate the Send calls to Google Analytics 4 option and check your Google Analytics 4 ID.
View events sent to Google Analytics 4
In your Call Tracking account, you can view the data sent to Google Analytics via the integration.
To do this, on the Integrations tab, click on the Google Analytics 4 box.
You will see your previously configured integration.
On the same line, click on the button :
This will take you to a table summarising the call data sent to Google Analytics 4.
If the icon in the Status column appears in green, the desired information has been successfully sent to Google Analytics.
By clicking on the Lookup icon in the Actions column, you can view the full information sent in code form.
